FAQ's

Q.  What are clip in hair Extensions?

A. If you are looking for a quick do it yourself hair extension system with no long term bonding, then these are perfect for you! Clip-in hair extensions are easy to attach and can be perfectly matched to your own hair, giving you longer hair with added volume. Belle Couture extensions take minutes to apply and seconds to take out. Clip-in extensions are quick, easy and affordable!

Q. How are they attached to my own hair?

A.  Belle Couture use high quality silicone clips so they don’t slip or damage your hair. Once attached to your hair you will not be able to see the clips.
Parting your hair in sections, using a backcomb tease the roots so you have volume to clip the hair to. All wefts are made to fit everyone’s head.

Q.  How long does my hair need to be to use clip-in extensions?

A.  Everyone is different but we have found if your hair is 6-8 inches long you should be able to use the extensions with no problems.

Q.  How long does clip in extensions last for?

A.  Belle Couture extensions use the finest quality Virgin human hair which means they will last as long as you want – ensuring you maintain them correctly. Click here to view our hair care instructions. Extensions can last from 1 year onwards with the correct maintenance, and if they are not cared for you will need to replace every 6 months.

Q.  What clips do you use?

A. All Clip-In extensions have stainless steel metal clips attached to the weft with a small silicone strip. They weigh very little and are small making them easy to hide.

Q. What type of hair does Belle Couture use?

A.  Belle Couture uses the highest grade 100% European Virgin Remy Human Hair in all of our hair extensions. Human hair, unlike synthetic hair can be straightened with a flat iron, curled and chemically treated to dye the hair. Belle Couture Hair blends into thick and thin hair types to create a natural, beautiful look. We guarantee that all hair extensions we sell are of 100% European Virgin Human hair quality and is ethically sourced.

Q.  What is the difference between Remy and non-Remy?

A.  We only use Remy hair in our extensions. The term REMY means "Cuticle Correct”. This means the finest Virgin untreated and not previously coloured hair is used. Other hair on the market may have synthetic hair running through the extensions, our hair is hand picked and aligned so that every single strand of hair runs in the same direction that is grows from the scalp. This ensures the cuticle on each hair is running downwards in order to keep the hair shiny and soft. After hand picking and aligning the cuticles, the hair goes through a gentle treatment process to colour, straighten and treat the hair organically in the best way.

Q.  Can Belle Couture Hair be straightened, curled and blow-dried?

A.  Treat your Belle Couture’s as if they're your own hair. Never use hot tools often as it can damage and dry the hair and your extensions will not last as long. We do not recommend using hot tools that are higher than 170 degrees. Heat protection is highly recommended when using heat styling tools. Your extensions can be blow dried, but it is not recommended too do this often – it is best to let them dry naturally.

Q.  How do I know what colour will match my hair?

A.  We completely understand that choosing the perfect colour from a computer screen cannot always be easy! To ensure you choose the correct colour to match your hair, we recommend emailing the Belle Couture team 3 or more photos of your hair and our hair experts will recommend the perfect colour for you. Hair extensions can usually be one shade lighter or darker than your natural hair but they will blend in as if it was your own hair. It makes all the difference once they are clipped in! Most people’s hair is actually darker underneath than on top. That's right!

Q.  Can I return my hair extensions if they don’t match?

A.  Yes, we offer an easy exchange policy if your hair extensions don’t match, simply return them (along side a sample of your own hair) for an exchange of the correct colour. Any customised order is non-exchangeable and non-refundable. If the hair has been used or the gold hair ties are cut then the policy is void.

Q.  Can I colour the hair?

A.  Yes, you are able to colour the hair as it is 100% European Natural Virgin Remy Hair. As a general rule, it is easier to darken the hair rather than lighten it. Blonde hair has been bleached more so caution must be taken when colouring your hair extensions. We highly recommend to have a qualified hairdresser colour your hair extensions so you get the desired result, colouring your hair extensions yourself poses a high risk of the extensions not coming out in the shade you desire. Always do a test sample before colouring all of the hair! Coloured extensions are non-refundable.

Q.  Can I wash my hair extensions?

A.  Yes, You can wash your Belle Couture’s as you would your own. We recommend using a hair treatment on them every few weeks because as the hair is not attached to your scalp, it is not getting the natural oils it should be. Using a good hair treatment will keep your hair extensions looking healthy and silky smooth. You don’t need to wash your hair extensions too much! We recommend washing your extensions every 3-4 weeks if worn more than 3 times a week and every 5-6 weeks if worn a few times a month.

Our Weave

Weft hair extensions are traditionally known as “machine weft” which is one long piece of hair extensions which is sewn together. This is then cut up into sections to fit a person’s head. It is sewn to a braid which is done by a professional hairdresser and several rows are added until the desired thickness is achieved. Machine weft hair extensions are very popular as they are very quick and easy to install / remove which makes them quite cost effective compared to single strand methods. You can also easily mix colours to achieve a highlighted look to match your natural hair. They can be installed in several ways, but most commonly by sewing the hair weft into braided track of your natural hair. A full head which is generally 3-4 rows will take approximately 1-2 hours to install. They will then not need to be retightened for 6-12 weeks, depending on the growth of your hair.
Our weave in hair extensions are 1 meter wide and weigh between 150 – 250grams, we have 19 hair colours and 3 lengths to choose from.

Our Tape

Tape Hair extensions are seamless way of adding volume and length to your natural hair. The flexible bond of the Tape hair is placed at the root area of a thin section of your natural hair, and then "sandwiched" with another piece creating a natural look. Belle Couture Tape In Hair Extensions come ready with our specially designed tape adhesive to allow for maximum hold and flexibility. When re-using your extensions hair you will need to install fresh tape at the bond area, once removing any old residue or adhesive. With proper care, they can last in the hair for 6-8 weeks, and may be reinstalled 2-3 times using double-sided hair extension tape. It is highly recommended to have a skilled professional perform the Tape Hair installation to ensure proper sectioning and placement for a flawless result. Of course! Belle Couture tape extensions can be re used over and over again. They will need to be refitted approximately every 8 weeks. Simply remove the extensions, clean all residue off the bonds and add a new tape tab or piece from our tape roll. Our tape in hair extensions are 4 x 0.8cm and weigh 120g.
